# Introduction to FraQL FraQL is a recursive acronym that stands for ***Fractal Query Language***, which is a syntactical superset of ANSI SQL. The decision to model a new query language derived from [ANSI SQL](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL) (Structured Query Language) was to ensure the least amount of studying by future developers in order to query Fractal.
