# UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) A universally unique identifier ensures uniqueness of a key with a 0.000000% chance of collision. When dealing with money, a GUID is unacceptable because there is still a remote chance of collision. On the scale of a global+ solution with billions of users and trillions of particles, the design considerations of the UUID are essential to ensure there is no possibility of duplicate values. UUIDs are one of the core architectural features in Fractal and the Nebula Neural Fabric. Every unique identifier in the ecosystem is a UUID. Every UUID is exactly 40 BiHex characters. [[BiHex (base32)]] is the unique base32 character set used throughout Fractal and Nebula. Because of the capabilities of BiHex, the UUID is not case-sensitive and dashes are irrelevant. ``` Rendered UUID: amqzvrzg53bkb4qz8325djq8sa0v22yvt2bacv4n Rendered UUID formatted with dashes: amqzvrzg53-3bkb4qz832-3bkb4qz832-yvt2bacv4n ``` ##### Relevant Search Tags > #nebula #vfn #overview #vfn-uuid #nebula-uuid #uuid
